Advanced Cook Stoves Initiative

India has one of the highest burden of diseases, with much of it due to indoor air pollution. The SHOPS project markets advanced cook stoves in the country to reduce indoor air pollution and save fuel. This three-way partnership model includes a manufacturer, distributor, and microfinance institution, and involves landscaping the market, testing the feasibility of the model, pre-testing at scale in a different location, and supporting scale-up and replication. The model shows promise for commercializing advanced cook stoves in rural markets. This presentation was given at USAID by Ram Ganesan in January 2014.
