Background Information for the Business of Midwifery

This document is a handout for lender participants in the training, Case Study, Christina Gomez: Midwife. There are tens of thousands of midwives working in the Philippines, serving large segments of the population in rural and urban areas. It has been found in recent surveys that most women in the Philippines prefer going to a midwife for their reproductive health needs. Midwives can offer a valuable service to their communities.
