Diarrhea Management Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices among Caregivers and Providers in Uganda

This study sought to understand primary providers' and caregivers' knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to how they treated children under age five who had diarrhea in Uganda. The survey found that there was relatively high use of oral rehydration salts and antibiotics to treat diarrhea (43 percent), a moderate use of antidiarrheals and home-prepared treatments (30 percent), and a very low use of zinc (less than 5 percent).  The presentation describes the study design, research questions, and findings.
