Namibia: Engaging the Private Sector to Achieve Priority Health Goals

This fact sheet discusses SHOPS activities in Namibia aimed at addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic. SHOPS technical assistance in Namibia is based on the recommendations of a private sector assessment SHOPS conducted in 2010. They have included: facilitating the introduction of a minimum low-cost health care package; coordinating with the Male Circumcision Task Force at the Ministry of Health and Social Services and the National Association of Medical Aid Funds to define male circumcision as an explicit HIV preventative medical scheme benefit; and facilitating dialogue among key NGOs and other stakeholders to better understand the HIV services delivery market, including the specific activities and income sources of NGOs focused on HIV/AIDS service provision.
