Reducing ARV Costs in Namibia: A Means to Increase Access (poster)

This poster describes a study of the cost savings potentially available to the Public Service Employee Medical Aid Scheme (PSEMAS) in Namibia if it could procure antiretroviral drugs at public sector prices as opposed to the private sector prices it is currently paying. The study found that the cost savings would be substantial—if PSEMAS could buy ARVs at public prices it could cut money spent on ARVs by 48 percent, which would cut total spending by PSEMAS on medical claims by 3.8 percent. The poster was presented at the Second Global Symposium on Health Systems Research in Beijing.
