Total Market Success: The Paraguay Story

The presentation uses data from the market segmentation analysis SHOPS conducted on family planning in Paraguay to demonstrate that effective public sector targeting grew the market without crowding out the private sector. Data also show an overall healthy and sustainable family planning marketplace. In Paraguay, five different family planning methods are at or above 10% prevalence and are readily available across the country from various sources and at a range of price points. Dawn Crosby presented this to a USAID audience in February 2012. Susan Mitchell presented an earlier version of this PowerPoint, which was based on the work of Dawn Crosby, as part of a panel on Total Market Initiatives at the 2011 International Family Planning Conference in Dakar, Senegal.
