In an effort to foster health systems strengthening and country ownership of the health sector, the Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) project, with financial support from the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), organized a Network for Africa (N4A) technical exchange on May 17, 2012 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The exchange was scheduled to coincide with the regional conference on Engaging the Private Sector in Health in Africa May 14-16, 2012, also in Dar es Salaam. N4A is an on-line community of public and private sector members working to advance private sector engagement in health in Africa. Since many of the regional conference participants are N4A members, SHOPS used this opportunity to provide additional training and sharing of best practices in public private partnerships (PPP) for health.
