A Census of Private Health Facilities in Six States of Nigeria

The SHOPS project conducted a census of six Nigerian states to assess the private health sector’s infrastructure, staff, patient volume, and services offered. This report highlights findings census regarding:

• Number of facilities, by type

• Accuracy of official lists 

• Infrastructure, staff, and patient volume

• Family planning services

• HIV and AIDS, maternal and child health, and other health services

• Provision of pharmaceuticals

• Quality of family planning counseling 

• Access to finance and business practices
