A Multi-faceted Digital Approach to Learning from Beneficiaries and Improving Health Knowledge and Behaviors in Haiti

In 2016, SHOPS Plus Haiti launched a digital health platform to quickly and cost-effectively send targeted or mass SMS or interactive voice response (IVR) messages on health topics and enable individuals to access this content on-demand. Targeted health areas include Cholera, Zika, child health and family planning. As the program evolved and platform membership has grown to nearly 100,000, SHOPS Plus has added mobile market and demographic surveys, family planning reminders, and peer stories as additional opportunities to engage beneficiaries. This poster, presented at the 2018 Global Digital Health Forum, shares implementation insights for rolling out multi-pronged approaches to digital health communication in health and humanitarian contexts. It also highlights lessons learned and results from digital surveys and two-way engagement.
